The Flexible Workplace Initiative is proud to announce that we are now outreach partners for the Corporate Voices campaign. Outreach Partners have joined Corporate Voices in this campaign to expand awareness of and support for workplace flexibility. Other business organizations, work/life advocacy groups and NGOs have agreed to communicate the business benefits of a flexible workplace to their memberships and peers, and to encourage them to sign the Statement of Support for Expanding Workplace Flexibility.
Corporate Voices is leading a national campaign to engage the business community and broaden awareness for the positive business and employee benefits of workplace flexibility. Corporate Voices and its Outreach Partners are recruiting "Business Champions" to this campaign to join a select group of best-practice business leaders that recognize flexibility as a critical strategy to ensure success in the global economy.
At a White House Forum on Workplace Flexibility in March 2010, Corporate Voices for Working Families was asked to lead a campaign to engage the business community and create a broader awareness of the positive business and employee benefits of workplace flexibility. Our organization joined with Corporate Voices as an Outreach Partner to expand this campaign, and we are now inviting our members and peers to join us in this national effort and to become “Business Champions” for workplace flexibility.
Businesses that are preparing for the future and want to be globally competitive are embracing flexibility policies as valuable management and recruiting tools to help enhance the business bottom line. The demographic changes of the 21st century mean that a significant portion of the labor force now has to care for children and the elderly, is going to school while working, and is juggling a number of other life obligations. Having flexible workplace arrangements—from compressed work-weeks and job-sharing to telecommuting—are proven to increase employee engagement, retention, job satisfaction, and productivity.
To become a business champion for flexibility, we ask your company to have a C-Suite level executive sign the Statement of Support for Expanding Workplace Flexibility. In 2005, 12 companies signed this Statement of Support, and we hope to add more signatures during this campaign. These companies were: Allstate Insurance Company, Baxter International Inc., Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, IMB, JP Morgan Chase, Knowledge Learning Corporation, KPMG LLP, Marriott International, Merck & Co, Inc., and PNC Financial.
As a business champion of workplace flexibility, your company will commit to actively communicate the business imperative for flexibility for all workers within your own organization, and to other business leaders. And, when appropriate, your company will help to spread the word about the campaign to your colleagues throughout the business community,
